Sunday Supper Series March | Hurricane of '38 at Stone Acres Farm

We brought guests back in time to experience one of the most dramatic events in Stonington history. In September 1938, a train en route from Boston's South Station to Grand Central in New York City was delayed in Stonington due a storm barreling up the coast. As the hours passed, the storm grew into a devastating hurricane and washed the train off the tracks, marooning the passengers aboard. The passengers seeking shelter from the storm were welcomed for the night by Dr. and Mrs. Paffard at Stone Acres Farm. We recreated the historic evening reciting true accounts from survivors, enjoying mulled wine and spirits by The Real McCoy Rum, and five courses of family style comfort food by Chefs Chris Vanasse, James Wayman, and Matt Wick.
